Welcome to the RMPL’s 6th Annual Country, Cover, and Postcard Lots Auction featuring 378 lots. This is a LIVE AUCTION held on February 24th beginning at 11:00 am in the Annex Meeting Room.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE LOTS
– Country lots are offered as a selection of stamps, or sometimes single stamps, sets, or covers. Nearly all have each stamp identified by SC number. Cover and postcard lots are offered in bulk with little or no duplication.
– Unless stated otherwise, country lots will have mint and used regular and back-of-book issues
– Stamps that catalog $5.00 and up are listed in the lot’s description
– Stamps designated as space fillers (SF) may have poor centering, heavy cancels, missing perfs, toning, etc. When estimating the total catalog value of the lot, they have been valued at much less than their full catalog value, depending upon the fault(s), or sometimes included with no value assigned.
– Mint stamps without gum are valued at 50% of their full SCV. Hinged stamps are valued at 50-70% of full SCV, unless a specific price is listed in SC.
– Commercial covers in bulk lots are rarely in pristine condition. Most may have frayed edges, stray writing marks, spots, toning, and foxing, along with other minor faults or damage.
VIEWING INFORMATION
Lots will be available for viewing Monday, February 19th through Friday, February 23rd 2024 during normal Library business hours in the Annex Meeting Room.
NO SATURDAY VIEWING WILL BE ALLOWED
ABSENTEE BIDDING INFORMATION
If you are unable to attend the live auction, there are four ways to submit bids. Please note that all absentee bids must be received by 8:00 p.m. MST, Thursday, February 22nd, 2024.
- Drop off a completed bid sheet at the Library.
- Bid by email at RMPLAuctionManager@gmail.com
- Bid online using the Online Bid Sheet to place your bids.
- Bid by mail. Send bid sheet to: Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library, 2038 S. Pontiac Way, Denver, CO 80224. Please put “attention auction manager” on the front of the envelope.
BIDDING PROCEDURES
*NO BUYER’S PREMIUM WILL BE CHARGED*
-Bidders will be assigned a number to remain anonymous.
-All lots will be sold to the highest bidder. The bidder is responsible for any errors in bidding.
-The winning bidder takes the lot at one advance over the next highest bid, as hammered down by the auctioneer.
-An RMPL volunteer serves as agent bidder for all absentee bids. These bids are not revealed to anyone, except in the bidding process. The volunteer does not know who the absentee bidder is, only the assigned absentee bidder’s number.
-In the event of a tie between the highest floor bidder and an absentee bidder, one advance over the highest floor bid will be taken, with preference to floor bidders.
-If an absentee bid is the only bid received for a lot and it is more than the minimum bid, the lot shall be sold to the absentee bidder at the minimum bid.
-Bids must be submitted in whole dollar amounts. For example, a bid of $22.49 will be rounded down to $22.00.
-Unspecified amount “buy bids” and telephone bids will not be accepted.
-Lots failing to receive a bid will be withdrawn for future auctions or disposal.
PAYMENT
- Lots will be ready for pickup Monday morning following the conclusion of the auction. If you are unable to pick up your lots, we will make arrangements to mail them to you.
- Payment may be made by cash, check, Visa, or Master Card.
- ALL bidders, whether successful or not, will be notified (by phone or email) by 4:00 p.m. Wednesday following the conclusion of the auction.
- Payment is expected when the lot(s) are picked up, or within 2 weeks of notification for absentee bidders.
- Colorado residents will be charged 4.25% sales tax.
- Shipping will be via the U.S.P.S. at a cost to be determined.
- FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING ON ORDERS TOTALING $175.00 AND ABOVE.
- If a winning absentee bidder wishes to have a purchase insured, we must be notified of this. The bidder will incur the cost.
