Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library’s 19th Annual Large Lots Auction. This is a LIVE AUCTION that will be held in the Meeting Room, Saturday, September 28, 2024, beginning at 11:00 AM.

This auction features 274 different lots comprised of stamps or covers in albums, on album pages, and in stock books; commemorative collections; bulk cover lots; miscellaneous philatelic-related material; supplies (stock books, cover albums, mounts, glassines, etc.); ephemera; and philatelic books. In arriving at a value for these lots, we have combined the estimated value of the album, pages, stamps, or covers, where applicable. Where pertinent, we have provided the face value of the stamps in a lot.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE LOTS

  • Unless it is specifically stated, all albums listed below have pages that require stamp hinges or mounts.
  • Assume that the condition of an album, stock book, cover album, etc. is very good or better if not stated in the lot’s description. If there is a problem with the condition of any item, it will be disclosed in the lot’s description.
  • Individual covers in bulk cover lots usually are not in pristine condition. Assume that some of the covers may have scuffs, damage to the back flap, toning, etc.

VIEWING INFORMATION

In-person viewing of the lots will be available in the Meeting Room Monday, September 23rd through Friday, September 27th during normal Library business hours (10-2 Monday-Friday and 5-8 Thursday).

BIDDING PROCEDURES

-Bidders will be assigned a number to remain anonymous.

-All lots will be sold to the highest bidder. The bidder is responsible for any errors in bidding.

-The winning bidder takes the lot at one advance over the next highest bid, as hammered down by the auctioneer.

-An RMPL volunteer serves as agent bidder for all absentee bids. These bids are not revealed to anyone, except in the bidding process. The volunteer does not know who the absentee bidder is, only the assigned absentee bidder’s number.

-In the event of a tie between the highest floor bidder and an absentee bidder, one advance over the highest floor bid will be taken, with preference to floor bidders.

-If an absentee bid is the only bid received for a lot and it is more than the minimum bid, the lot shall be sold to the absentee bidder at the minimum bid.

-Bids must be submitted in whole dollar amounts. For example, a bid of $22.49 will be rounded down to $22.00.

– Bids also must be submitted in correct bid increments; if not, they will be adjusted down to the correct increment. For example, a bid of $32.00 will be adjusted to $30.00.

-Unspecified amount “buy bids” and telephone bids will not be accepted.

-Lots failing to receive a bid will be withdrawn for future auctions or disposal.
